Ichigo Mashimaro. Manabi Straight. Moetan. Sky Girls. Kodomo no Jikan. These aren’t your average shows with young female leads intended for a young female audience. In fact they’re aimed at men. It really seems that the amount of series like these have drastically increased in the past couple of years.
I can understand why these shows are so popular. It gives lolicons the chance to do what they want (i.e. watch young girls in… ahem…”precarious situations”) without getting 25 to life. Should it be encouraged for studios to continue churning out these types of shows though? Is the anime/manga industry just perpetuating the problem by appeasing the intended audience with their next loli fix?
Maybe this is a problem that has always been present but is only getting more noticeable because of the recent shows with loli ero content in them. Of note would be the fact that Moetan episode 6 was outright banned from a TV airing and Kodomo no Jikan has also been heavily censored. What about the other shows I mentioned? While series like Ichigo, Sky Girls, and Manabi Straight aren’t as bad as the aforementioned ecchi titles, you can easily understand their target audience. I don’t suppose these shows are hurting anyone, but it is surprising how quickly they’ve found their fanbase and became an anime niche so quickly. Perhaps this matter has really come to light because the TV medium is so mainstream that you can’t help but notice how much things have changed.
